FOR RELEASE: July 10, 2012 – Phoenix, Arizona
MEDIA CONTACT: (855)719-BASF (2273) // info@buildastrongfuture.org
PHOENIX, ARIZONA – July 10, 2012 – The Team Veteran Foundation is proud to announce a Teaming Alliance with Build A Strong Future (Irving, Texas) for the purpose of fulfilling the PROMISE made to Veterans of all eras.

The Team Veteran Foundation defines the word “Veteran” and is relentlessly dedicated to its Mission:
A ‘Veteran’ — whether active duty, honorably discharged, retired, or reserve — is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to ‘The United States of America,’ for an amount of ‘up to, and including their life.’

The Team Veteran Foundation (TVF) project is designed to provide a unique and sustainable solution to a debilitating problem facing our US Veterans. The inability of our current Veteran support systems to adequately meet the deep and varied needs of our national heroes and their families drives this paradigm shift.

The vehicle created by the Team Veteran Foundation to deliver funding to Veterans is driven by corporate commitment to offer employee benefits exclusively through the Team Veteran Foundation. Members of TVF will help their fellow Brother and Sister Veterans through a revenue stream from the sale of these employee benefit plans to vetted veteran 501(c)(3) charities.

Build A Strong Future’s Veteran-Enabling Initiative provides HOPE for the Future by:

Helping Retired Veterans returning to civilian life to prepare a Personal/Family Game Plan for their Future.

Offering a system to Mentor and Mobilize Veterans with the leadership skills and core competencies needed to succeed in a new career.

Passing on foundational principles, virtues and values to emerging leaders in our communities & nation.

Encouraging, Equipping and Engaging those looking to make a difference by enabling our Veterans to receive the PROMISE they rightfully deserve.

The goal for the Team Veteran – Build A Strong Future Teaming Alliance is every dollar companies spend on services offered through this Alliance will provide a stream of funding to Veteran enabling organizations who prove they’re truly meeting the specific needs of Veterans of all eras.

We invite you to partner with us and KEEP our promise to our Nation’s Veteran!

That is 18 Veterans a day, which means, if you are a Veteran you are almost 4 times more likely to take your own life, than someone from the non-Veteran population.

Our founder, Gordon Brown, a Vietnam Veteran was asked “What’s your rush? [about Team Veteran Foundation]“. Well with these sobering statistics you can understand why he believes “Time is of the Essence”.

Suicides rates are even higher among Vietnam Era and currently returning Veterans. The pressures they have faced are very high, with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome), TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and other horrific injuries. These all take a mental toll on our Veterans.

While I served in peacetime, I can not even begin to imagine what these returning Veterans mental challenges are like. I do remember this, though. I came home during a force reduction, so I came home without anything lined up immediately. I remember feeling lost without the security, discipline and camaraderie of the military. It had been my life for 7 years and I had a difficult adjustment. So I can only glimpse the possibilities of what these young men and women are going through, returning from a war zone, and feeling that loss. Let alone if they were wounded as well.

Please join us as we strive to stem the tide and keep our honored alive.

TEAM VETERAN FOUNDATION AND STATUE OF RESPONSIBILITY CREATE
STRATEGIC ALLIANCE

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 6 May 2011 – TEAM VETERAN FOUNDATION Founder Gordon Brown and SOR Gary Lee Price create a strategic alliance.

left, Gordon Brown, right, Gary Lee Price

Speaking about the new alliance, the TEAM VETERAN FOUNDATION founder Gordon Brown said, “When I was introduced to the idea of the Statue of Responsibility I could not think of any group more receptive to this concept than Veterans. Veterans inherently recognize there is a tremendous price that has to be paid for Freedom and they are willing to take on the responsibility to preserve Freedom and Liberty. The idea of a new generation of children being exposed to what it means to be Responsible is almost overwhelming to imagine how they will better society. As each successive generation embraces their Responsibility to themselves, their neighbors and their country, we will have finally created the society our founding fathers envisioned so many years ago. I am very excited about the alliance between Team Veteran Foundation and the Statue of Responsibility and anxiously await the ground breaking.”

Gary Lee Price, Commissioned Sculptor for the Statue of Responsibility, added his thoughts about the new alliance between the two organizations, “The message of the Statue of Responsibility resonates with military veterans. There is no more patriotic group in our country who knows firsthand that the cost of freedom is constant vigilance, dedication to a higher cause, and when needed – the willingness to defend freedom with their lives. TEAM VETERAN FOUNDATION’S goal is honorable and we applaud them in their work to provide funding to private veterans organizations across the country. I see this alliance as being a wonderful win-win for both organizations.”

MORE ABOUT TEAM VETERAN FOUNDATION.

TEAM VETERAN FOUNDATION, CEO/Founder, Navy Veteran and TBI [traumatic brain injury] survivor, Gordon Brown believes there is a serious disconnect between Veteran’s health needs, public support and those health issues which the VA covers or monitors. Currently donations for Veteran causes and support groups are fragmented, inconsistent and because of the economy many Veteran charities are indicating their sources are tapped out.

-more-
Normally corporations are solicited for donations to help Veterans and those requests never end because the needs for Veteran support is growing daily with more Veterans suffering PTSD and TBIs (traumatic brain injuries) than ever before. TEAM VETERAN is creating a paradigm shift in the way we fund Veteran support groups nationwide by creating a perpetual funding program by donating 33% of their initial and residual commissions from the sale of two employee benefit plans.

Read more about the TEAM VETERAN FOUNDATION at www.TeamVeteran.org.

MORE ABOUT THE STATUE OF RESPONSIBILITY.

The Statue of Responsibility is committed to seeing the idea of Dr. Viktor E. Frankl become a reality. In the 1960’s, Frankl wrote in his landmark book “Man’s Search for Meaning”, “Freedom is not the last word. Freedom is only part of the story and half of the truth. The positive aspect of freedom is responsibleness. That is why I recommend that the Statue of Liberty on the East Coast be supplemented by a Statue of Responsibility on the West Coast.”

The Statue of Responsibility, called, “the most compelling monument project to freedom of the 21st Century”, will stand 300 feet tall, the same height as the Statue of Liberty, and will be located on the west coast of the United States. Internationally renowned sculptor Gary Lee Price was commissioned in 1997 to begin design work. His final design was officially approved in 2005 by the SOR board of trustees. Photos of the monument design may be found on the SOR’s website.

Speaking to his design, sculptor Gary Lee Price reflects, “Two gripping hands is a powerful human representation of responsibility. The power is in its simplicity. Gleaming in stainless steel, this monument will become a world-wide symbol of inspiration for future generations. It will stand as a respectful complement to Lady Liberty.”

The Statue of Responsibility, a 501(c)(3), non-profit corporation, has a two-fold mission: First, to raise the funding necessary to construct the monument. Second, and more long-term in nature, is to establish an educational scholarship fund. Scholarships will be awarded to applicants who have financial need and who can demonstrate how they have applied the principle of responsibility in their life – and how they plan to implement this principle following their university graduation. The SOR has volunteers in 22 U.S. states and 19 foreign countries.

To find out more about the Statue of Responsibility, see a 3-D computer animation of the design of the monument, view a brief introductory DVD of the project, or purchase “Responsibility 911”, go to http://responsibilityfoundation.com.

-end-

The shocking truth is that a woman Veteran is 4 times more likely to be homeless then her fellow male. The tragedy is that Federal programs service the needs of male Veterans. One woman in Phoenix is making a difference and preparing to take her crusade nationwide. Joan Sisco is a former Marine with a mission: provide women Veterans with safe, clean and compassionate shelter. Joan also notes that many homeless women Veterans include a child that is homeless.

Women historically, in our society, move beyond tragedy and difficulty in the best interest of their families. The environment on the battle front our women Veterans have experienced, has stretched that unique female ability to the breaking, as women struggle to be there for their families and themselves. This has resulted in the higher homeless rate in women. These women represent the new era of MIAs, Missing in Assimilation. Let us never forget the sacrifice these women have made for their service.

Please watch these videos of Joan’s mission at work.

There is a story behind the Team Veteran Foundation logo;

The Eagle represents great strength and vision as he watches over our Nation and those who have and continue to fight for our freedom. The flag across the eagle’s head represents the US Constitution which our Military men and women have sworn to defend against all enemies, foreign and domestic. The red white and blue circles surrounding the eagle represents our never-ending commitment to assist in supporting our Veterans. The military service seals represent the five major branches of the military, which includes the Reserve and National Guard units of those respective branches. The tri-folded flag beneath the military seals represents a fallen warrior. The flag is improperly folded with red showing on the left corner representing the unhealed wounds of our Nation’s Veterans. The red will be removed from the tri-fold flag as our Nation completes the promise made to our Veterans.

We often say nasty things about the French. This story will change your mind about the tiny village of Les Ventes, Normandy, France.

This small village in Normandy has honored Billie D. Harris for 67 years. 1Lt Harris, Billie, was shot down over France. He managed to avoid hitting the village of Les Ventes, as he crash landed. This did not go unnoticed by the citizens of Les Ventes and so they honor him for his sacrifice and valor, still today. The most moving part of the video is to hear the emotion in the mayor’s voice when she reads Billie’s name. Even more amazing is that she, the Mayor, wasn’t even born yet.
